The Process

You can learn more about our options available for the 2025-26 sessions on the Properties page. Each house has its own virtual tour you can take in addition to photos of each room, shared space, and exterior. Get a feel for the nice furnishings and finishes you get to enjoy.
Once you find the place(s) you want, head to our Contact page and reach out in the form fields provided. You can enter your general information along with any specific questions and requests you may have. We will reach back out quickly by whatever communication method and time you prefer and make sure you are informed and ready to apply.
If applying as a current group of students, one member can reach out initially to schedule any communications with or for the rest of those interested. We can schedule a showing of one or more houses if the group would like to see in person.
Application
The application process is short and sweet. We send an invitation via Keycheck for you to complete the screening process. This does not dive into employment history since you will be a student when you arrive. We focus on credit history and a criminal background check to ensure that all housemates are cleared properly.
After your approval we work to match you with the appropriate location and group. We try to match
you the best we can by your requests and other applicants. This could include type of program (medical, NP, PA, nursing, etc.), year of school, and other criteria. We can’t make any guarantees but will
communicate final determinations so that everyone can commit and lock in their spots.
You can finalize your spot with payment of a deposit and signing our lease. The lease consists of typical language you would see and also includes a set of basic house rules regarding things like parking, noise, kitchen, laundry, etc. This helps set expectations ahead of time and avoid surprises. You will set up your electronic rent payments in our system in advance, so that is in place before you arrive.
Interested parties can apply at any time of year, and many spots are taken once invites are sent to students by the spring.
Arrival
WELCOME TO YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME!
Once you arrive, we provide code access to the front door and garage keypad. These are the only ways to access the house (unless you are parking in the garage and have a garage remote). This keeps your home secure without keys floating around from anyone else. You have a physical key to your room so that you can keep your belongings secure. There will also be a mailbox key kept in the shared space for anyone to check the mail whenever needed.
We then set you up with wireless internet access so that you can use your television for streaming and any electronic devices as you wish with high-speed service. You will have kitchen space for food and utensils of your own. There is also storage available if you have other belongings that are best kept out of bedrooms.
Once settled in you are in a great position to start your med school journey. Other than monthly rent, you won’t need to worry about utilities, internet, and other bills. It’s all taken care of in addition to cleaning of shared spaces, lawn care, and snow removal. Focus on what matters – we’ll take care of the rest!
FAQ'S
You probably have questions we haven’t addressed elsewhere on the site, so here are some topics that often come up.
Q: What if I’m interested, but all of the houses and rooms listed are unavailable now?
A: We will put you on the waiting list in order of inquiry. Should something open up and you are next on the list, we will reach out to you first to see if it works for you. We may also have other furnished housing options in more of a condo setting in lieu of a house that could work well. They are also in Tiffin and North Liberty, so we maintain the goal of being near but removed from campus.
Q: Will I be in a house with only my gender living there?
A: We will attempt to meet requests for this, but it depends partially on our pool of applicants. There may be coed houses, which typically work fine. However, we understand that some people are most comfortable with only one gender present.
Q: How does the parking work?
A: It can depend on the exact location, but we generally have two spots available in the attached garage and then have street parking right in front of each house. This provides plenty of space without worry about parking blocks away. In case of a large snow event, we may require parking in the driveway while the streets are cleared. This just requires coordination among housemates if someone needs to leave or park in the garage.
Q: How do I get a garage spot?
A: A garage spot costs $45 per month and includes the remote opener to keep in your vehicle. This is granted to the first two people who request it regardless of which rooms they are residing.
Q: What should I bring with me? What should I leave behind?
A: We take care of quite a bit when it comes to furnishings. You could arrive with your clothes and miscellaneous personal items and be just fine (see each house description for a more detailed list of furnishings provided). You should not bring any furniture unless prearranged, and this will only apply in special circumstances. We provide all of the main kitchen utensils, but you are welcome to bring and store your own if your cooking or baking prowess requires it. There are storage areas in most locations for items like golf clubs, totes, and other gear that you prefer to not keep in your bedroom or closet.
Q: Will I be sharing a bathroom?
A: Some rooms come with their own private bathrooms, and some will have a shared bathroom. This is noted in each house profile, and prices reflect the differences. Shared bathrooms do have double vanity sinks, so that element is separate. Shared bathrooms are also cleaned twice per month as part of your rent, so that keeps things fresh all the time.
Q: How do the kitchens work for keeping my food and other items?
A: Our kitchens have a lot of cabinet space to provide space for everyone. You will typically have a large upper cabinet and a large lower cabinet to store your food and smaller utensils. We will add a pantry cabinet if needed to ensure that everyone has adequate space. The refrigerator is divided by shelves, and each bedroom also has its own mini-frig to help with smaller items like beverages.
Q: Are guests allowed to visit and stay at the house?
A: Guests are allowed as long as your housemates are aware of who and when with no issues. You are welcome to use the living room and kitchen with noise kept within typical bounds at night and in the early morning. There is no sleeping in shared spaces, though, so this is limited to your bedroom. Parking for a guest is to be on the street for anyone visiting, whether for an hour or overnight.
Q: How close will I be to things like grocery stores and restaurants?
A: You are actually closer to these places than if you lived near campus, which is part of the overall convenience. Within five minutes (yes, that close) you can be at the grocery store, Target, or Costco. There are many great restaurants, gyms, and even Pinseekers (aka Top Golf) within a few minutes drive or even a walk if it’s nice.
